What is Meetups Bounty?

Our bounty was created in 2024 to help Polkadot community members get funding for their meetups. It is funded by the Polkadot Treasury and managed by five curators from different continents. Any active community member can apply for support.

With a budget of up to 1000 USD (in DOT), these meetups help people learn, connect, and grow the Polkadot community, especially in less active regions.

What kind of meetups do we want to see?

We support meetups that bring real value to the Polkadot ecosystem. We focus on four main areas: education, technology, community building, and business development, all equally important for ecosystem growth.

Educational meetups, often held in collaboration with universities or crypto communities. The goal is to help attendees understand how Polkadot works, learn about its core values, projects, and most importantly, discover how to get involved. After the meetup, participants should know where to find information and how to take their next steps in the ecosystem.

We also support technical meetups focused on developers. These events should help onboard new developers, encourage them to explore Polkadot’s technology, and inspire them to join existing projects or start their own. Developers should be motivated to try Polkadot’s tech, join hackathons, or participate in workshops where they can test and build their own projects using Polkadot tools.

Community meetups are equally important. They build active local hubs that keep Polkadot visible across regions. These events connect people, inspire collaboration, and help find new contributors who stay involved. Strong communities often lead to new partnerships and local projects.

We also support partnership meetups focused on business development and cross-ecosystem collaboration. These events connect Polkadot projects, builders, and external organizations that add strategic value. The goal is to form partnerships, share knowledge, and create joint initiatives. Such meetups often lead to integrations, funding collaborations, or co-hosted programs that expand Polkadot’s network.

Finally, we aim to help individuals grow their networks and make a real impact in the ecosystem. The most active organizers will be able to join Polkadot Roots, an Events Bounty initiative that supports strong contributors. Roots is the next level for meetup organizers, offering more freedom and support.

How do we measure success?

Each meetup is evaluated individually. Besides general metrics such as the number of events, countries covered, attendance, costs, and on-chain activity, we also measure the value and goals of each meetup. These goals should be clearly defined before the event and reviewed after to understand their real impact.

Organizers have creative freedom to design their own concepts and goals. We continue to focus on cost efficiency, keeping meetups simple but valuable, and avoiding unnecessary spending. A successful meetup doesn’t need high funding: it needs clear purpose and execution.

Where should you organize your meetup?

We want to expand to new countries and regions, especially North and South America, Australia, and some countries in Europe. But we are open to funding any other locations. You can check all previously funded meetups on our main page. If your country or city isn’t listed there, you could be a great candidate to host one. Feel free to get in touch with us on

What is the process?

Funding is retroactive, meaning you’ll be reimbursed after the meetup. We cover all essential costs needed to organize your event. Before planning, contact the curators in our public Telegram chat and read the bounty rules on our main page. You’ll receive clear guidance and support to make your meetup successful.
